Privacy policy

Draft for review. This describes how Booner works today. Have it checked before you rely on it.
Booner (“we”) makes the Booner map app at app.boonergis.com and the Booner Android app. This policy covers both, and this website.
What we collect
- Your email address, to create your account and send you sign-in codes.
- What you save in Booner: waypoints, routes, recorded tracks, imported map files, categories and settings. They’re stored with your account so they sync between your devices.
- Your conversations with the Booner assistant, if you have the assistant add-on, so you can see past chats. We also record how much each request cost, to apply your monthly limit.
- Error reports and map request logs: when something fails, the app sends the error, the app version and your account ID so we can fix it. We also log which map data services the app called and whether they answered.
We don’t sell your data, show ads, or share your data with advertisers.
Your location
Booner uses your device’s location to show where you are, give directions and record tracks. On Android, if you start navigation or a recording, the app keeps using location while the screen is off until you stop it.
Your live location stays on your device. It’s only saved if you save it: a waypoint, a route or a recorded track. To show the map and answer questions, the app sends the place you’re looking at (not your identity) to the services that provide that data, listed below.
Services we use
- Supabase: stores your account and synced data.
- Resend: sends sign-in emails.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website, and Turnstile checks that sign-ins come from a person.
- Anthropic: runs the Booner assistant. Your messages and the map data needed to answer them are sent to Anthropic to generate replies.
- Google Maps and Mapbox: basemaps and place search, for users with those add-ons or settings.
- Public data services (US Forest Service, National Park Service, Recreation.gov, National Weather Service, USGS, OpenStreetMap and its Overpass and routing servers): they receive the map area or point you’re looking at, like any website you visit.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account data while your account exists. To delete your account and everything saved with it, email [email protected] from the address you sign in with. We’ll delete it within 30 days. Data saved only on your device is removed when you sign out or uninstall the app.
Children
Booner isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you’ve already given us, we’ll tell you in the app.
